January and February -  RRSP season! You’re fed up with television and print ads, letters from your bank, radio and television talk shows. The messages are similar. “Maximize your contribution.” “Invest for the long term.” “Save taxes this year.” In general they have the same meaning:  “Give your money to us.”

Well, what about the rest of the year? We have a different perspective - a more independent point of view. We don’t want your money just in the RRSP season so we can park it in some simple, one-dimensional investment product and never look at it again. That is not what you deserve for your retirement plan.

Who helps you figure out what to do with the funds once they are in the RRSP? Do you get an advice that’s good for all seasons? No? But you have all rights to get it. As your Advisor I will spend the time to learn about your future hopes, retirement objectives and legacies you want to leave behind. Then I’ll find the way to maximize your RRSP returns so what’s important to you can become a reality.

There’s a lot more investing products today than stock, bonds and traditional mutual funds. The nature and variety of investment products is changing almost on a daily basis. Growing information flow generates more and more questions in investor's mind:

  • It’s great that a RRSP can hold foreign content. But what does that mean to you and how can you best take advantage of it?

  • Do you know if you need a spousal RRSP?

  • Does your spouse hold the same investments that you do in their own RRSP - leading to potentially dangerous over-concentration and breaking correlation rules?

  • Do you know when switches between different groups of securities really desirable.

  • Are RRSP clone funds really a smart choice?

  • How many mutual funds are enough to get you properly diversified?

  • Are you divorce-filed?

  •  If you’re self-employed - do you know how to protect your RRSP from creditors?

  • Are you paying multiple annual RRSP administration fees? (We don’t charge any).

Today I have immediate access to the best research and new ideas, and the time to keep an eye on it for my clients. Also I can help you design a smart, highly personalized investment strategy. Take a look at some other questions we can help you answer:

  • Does it really make sense to borrow from your RRSP to buy your first home?

  • Would you really be maximizing your RRSP by holding your mortgage in it?

  • If you’re thinking about furthering your education, did you know your RRSP could help?

  •  Were you aware that when the time comes you can roll your self-directed RRSP into a self-directed RRIF?

That's right, so much to know - and you’re busy with your life, your family, your career - how do you find time to get a handle on all of this? It’s not easy. That’s why we’re here. This is what we do. We build custom-made retirement plans designed for all seasons of your life, not just RRSP season. Indeed, the RRSP for all seasons is the last RRSP you’ll ever need.
